Mahniya Zafar is a Research Fellow at CREB and aTeaching Fellow at the Lahore School of Economics. Her research interests lie in Development Economics, Applied Microeconomics and Behavioural Economics. Her research focuses primarily on the education sector. Her MPhil thesis was based on how the school facilities, especially qualification of teachers, positively impacts student retention rates. Currently, she is working on how non-cognitive skills and positive psychology, such as grit, perseverance, self-belief and self-control can ultimately change behavior that can be reflected in students’ test scores. Previously, she worked on measuring the technical efficiency, measured by the degree of integration, of the agriculture markets in Punjab, Pakistan. She found strong linkage between the prices in the main consumer market and the largest producer markets, also known as vertical integration, for selected fruits and vegetables.
