Dareen Latif

Dareen Latif is a Research Fellow at CREB. Her research interests are in the areas of political economy, applied microeconomics, development economics, and gender. Her current research with colleagues at the Lahore School and Duke employs police administrative data to investigate how political influences in areas aligned with the party in power affect the police responses to crime in Lahore. In other work, she studies the impact of physical distance on the health facility choice in the context of a health micro insurance program in Punjab. She explores if distance impedes individuals from making cashless claims at faraway panel hospitals. Moreover, if this impact is more pronounced for women in a setting like Pakistan where women’s mobility is especially constrained.
