Maryiam Haroon

Maryiam Haroon is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago. She is also an External Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Economics and Business, Lahore School of Economics. She recently finished her Ph.D. in Economics from Lahore School of Economics in 2021. Her field of research is applied micro econometrics, working in development economics, focusing on labor and behavioral economics questions, mainly gender. Much of her work focuses on how individuals make decisions under conditions of poverty and how labor and education market imperfections function, especially around issues of asymmetric information. She is a  co-PI on several collaborative projects with local and international researchers, the University of Chicago, the University of Göttingen, Washington University, and local institutions such as the National Rural Support Programme, Higher Education Commission, and Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan.
