Sadia Hussain
Sadia Hussain is a Research Fellow at CREB. Her research interests are in the areas of applied microeconomics, political economy and behavioral economics. Her work is mostly on women and marginalized communities. In one of her research projects, with Kashf Foundation, she highlights the impact and constraints faced in the use of health microinsurance by female microfinance borrowers. She finds physical distance to hospital and dearth of listed health facilities can deter women from using the program despite paying for it. In a similar context, she also evaluates the impact of introducing telehealth clinic services on microfinance borrowers, a group that is highly constrained in mobility and decision-making. More recently, her ongoing work in collaboration with Duke University and The Citizen’s Foundation, explores the learning losses experienced by students belonging to a lower socio-economic background due to COVID-19.
